Intermediate Fundraisers continue. Knight Waterbottles bearing our school logo are available for $12 each. Freezies will be sold at both breaks on every Tuesday this month. Freezie sales will replace popcorn sales. All freezie sale proceeds will be put towards grade 8 graduation costs.
Our boys and girls two pitch teams will participate in an tournament on June 16. Congrats to all students who made the team. Thank you Mrs. Boss, Mrs. McGuire, and Mr. Gravelle for coaching!
Our grade 5 students will travel to the municipal office on June 17th (8:50-10:30am) to support their learning of our government.
Mrs. Parker and Ms. Kershaw’s class will visit Uncle Tom’s Cabin on June 18, 10am-1pm.
The grade 5 students will be attending the community centre to go swimming from 10-12am on Friday, June 18.
Grade 8 Graduation will take place on June 22. Dinner will be held at the Petrolia Legion and our awards ceremony will take place after dinner at the LCCVI gymnasium.
The Junior Year End trip to Bluewater Fun Park will take place on June 23.
Our grade 7 and 8 students will be attending Niagara Falls for their year end trip on June 24.
Last day of classes are on Friday, June 25!

A representative from the OPP will share a presentation with our grade 6-8 students regarding internet safety.
June 11 will be a hat day in support of Kylie’s Kause. Students who donate $1 to Kylie’s Kause will be permitted to wear a hat throughout the day.

EQAO Testing for our Grade 6 students will take place May 31 – June 4.
On June 2 our grade 4 students will be travelling to the Dow Wetlands for an opportunity to complete an ecosystem study.

Today, May 17 is Hoops for Heart for all intermediate students. Classes will participate periodically throughout students. Activities will begin at 1:20pm.
Wednesday, May 19 is our school Track and Field meet. The meet will be held at the LCCVI track. Spectators welcome! Rain date is Friday.
Thursday, May 20th, the intermediate Ultimate Frisbee teams will be participating in a tournament at Canatara Park in Sarnia. Games begin at 9:30am.

Thursday, May 6 was QEII make a difference day. Each classroom came up with an idea to make a difference in our community. Below is a summary of how we made a difference:
Thompson and Harding: Bake sale with proceeds given to Cancer research.
Parker: One day food drive within their classroom.
Tranquille: One day clothing drive and walked to donate the colllection to a local charity.
Perry: collected litter to clean up our school yard and helped Mrs. McEwen with garbage clean up on classrooms after lunch.
Stevens: Equipment room and stage organization and cleaning.
Maguire: Weeding and replanting of school gardens and landscape.
Kershaw: Information posters for anti-bullying up in school.
Smith: Peer tutor and classroom help to grade 4 and 5 classrooms.
Pritchard: Walked to Albany house and baked cookies with the elderly.
Jubenville: Walked to Hillcrest and pair with a grade 3 student and read each others favorite children’s book/story.

Ultimate Frisbee Team tryouts continue this week on Wednesday and Friday after school.
On Wednesday April 28, the Character Development team will host an assembly on Citizenship. This assembly will take place in the gym at 1:30 pm.
On Thursday from 11:10-11:30, Ted Gravelle will be doing a presentation to all classes in the gym on a project called Bravery Beads. This benefits children with cancer through the making and sale of bracelets. Leena Bourne provides the materials for this project.

On Monday, April 19, students in the intermediate division will be attending the VPP to see a play titled Enchanted. The play begins at 1pm.
On Tuesday, April 20, School Council will meet at 6pm in the school library. Everyone welcome.
On Wednesday, April 21, our grade 8 students will be visiting LCCVI for an orientation session.
On Thursday, April 22, the junior division will hold a Jump Rope for Heart information/kick off assembly.

Queen Elizabeth II is offering pies and tarts for sale.
Kathy Davey ( The Pie Lady from the Petrolia Farmers’ Market ) will be preparingwith love…and baking a variety of pies and tarts for the Junior Division to sell and all proceeds will be used for Junior activities. The amazingly delicious pies and tarts are all homemade and baked.
The pies available are:
Pumpkin— baked, ready to eat or freeze
Pecan— baked, ready to eat or freeze
Apple— unbaked and frozen
Blueberry— unbaked and frozen
Cherry— unbaked and frozen
Butter tarts, by the dozen, are also available baked, ready to eat or freeze
