December 15th, 2011
On Monday December 19th our school council will host another Movie Night! “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” will be shown a 6pm sharp in our school gym.
Milk forms are due to the office on December 19th.
On December 20th, our grade 7 students will go swimming at the community centre from 11:30am – 12:30pm.
On December 21st, our annual Christmas Dinner will be served to our students. This event will take place at the Petrolia Legion, and is sponsored by School Council. To help with the cost of the dinner, we are asking that each student pay $5.
Our Holiday break begins Saturday, December 24th and continues until Sunday, January 8. Classes resume on Monday, January 9th.
December 12-16 Events
December 14th, 2011
Our JK/SK Christmas concerts were held on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Certainly a great job by all students involved. Thank you to all the parents that came out to watch!
On Wednesday, December 14, parents can pick up their Meat/Fruit Pie and Soup orders from 3-5pm.
On Decmeber 15, Magazine orders are due. Please return the orders to school with your child to give to his or her teacher.
On December 15, the grade 6 students will perform their musical at 11:30am and 6:30pm in the gym.
December 5 to December 9 Events
December 2nd, 2011
On December 6th, dental screening will take place for our grade 8 students.
December 9th will be pizza day.
Also on December 9th, our Family Life (sexual education) programs will begin for junior and intermediate students.

On Tuesday, November 22 our grade 7 classes will visit the community centre to go swimming from 11:30 – 12:30.
On Wednesday, November 23 a representative from the OPP will share an anti-bullying and anti-cyberbullying presentation with our grade 6 and 7 girls.
Friday, November 25 is a PD Day. Therefore, there will be no classes for students.
November 7 – 11 Events

The School Council Fundraising Committee is currently hosting a fundraiser selling homemade meat pies, fruit pies, and soups. Order forms were sent our with students this week and are due back Wednesday, November 23. Monies raised will be used for classroom activities and other school and classroom needs.
November 8th will be our next School Council meeting at 6pm.
Dental Screening will take place for students in SK, JK, grade 2, and grade 8 on November 9th and 10th.

On Tuesday, November 1st, our Grade 5 students will visit the VPP to tour the council chamber.
Upcoming Events
Child Health & Dental Services Department is planning to visit our school to complete oral health screening for students in grades 1, 2, and 8, on November 8th and 9th. Parents who do not want their children to participate in the screening should call the Child Health and Dental Services Department at 519-383-3820.

October 17th, 2011
Monday, October 17th will be our rescheduled Terry Fox Run. Thank you to all the families that raised money. Thank you to Ms. Verbeek for organizing this imprtant event. We all look forward to the leap frog races amoung students and teachers!
The Cross Country team will compete Thursday, October 20th @ Brigden School.
Friday, October 21 is a PA Day, therefore, there will be no classes on this day for students.
October 10 – 14 Events
October 6th, 2011
October 10th is the Thanksgiving holiday, therefore, there will be no classes. Happy Thanksgiving to all our QEII families!
The next School Council meeting will be on Tuesday, October 11 starting at 6:00pm in the school library.
The Petrolia Area School Intermediate Soccer Tournament will take place all day at Oil City Soccer Fields, on October 12.
On October 13th our primary classes will be attending the “Sing Out Fire” Safety Show at the Victoria Playhouse. The performance begins at noon.
Our Terry Fox Run will take place on October 14th during the last learning block, beginning ~1:20pm.
The Petrolia Area School Cross Country Meet will be held on October 20 @ Brigden School. The meet usually begins around noon. Details will follow.
September 27-30 Events
September 27th, 2011
Monday, September 26th will be a P.A. Day, therefore, there will be no classes for students.
Picture Day’s will be held on September 28 (grades K-6) and 29th (grade 7 and 8). Students have been given information sheets to take home.
Cross Country Practices are beginning this week. Thank you to Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Stevens, and Mrs. Fisher (Hillcrest) for coaching. Upcoming meets will be held on October 5th (Optimist @ Petrolia Discovery) and October 20th (Petrolia Area School Meet @ Brigden School).
Soccer tryouts continue this week. Thank you Mr. Gravelle and Mrs. McGuire for coaching the girls and Mr. Jubenville for coaching the boys. The tournament will be held the week of the 11th – 14th, but a date has not yet been set.
